The synthesis of alkylbenzenes from benzene, CO, and H 2 constitutes the first demonstration of true Fischer‐Tropsch chain growth on a soluble mononuclear catalyst [W(CO) 6 (+AlCl 3 )]. Reaction is performed at 200°C under pressure. No xylene is formed.
