Chiral reference systems for asymmetric syntheses , e.g. peptide synthesis by stereoselective four‐component condensation, are now readily available. Ferrocene, isobutyraldehyde, and trifluoroacetic acid initially yield the cation (1) which is easily transformed into (2) , the reference system for the above‐mentioned synthesis.
