A polymeric model system, sensitive only to the distance between the functional groups , is obtained by copolymerization of (1) with styrene and/or divinylbenzene. After reduction the sulfur is present largely as SH groups which can be reoxidized almost completely to SS bridges. A highly pronounced site separation of SH groups could be accomplished (<5% reoxidation) in comparable experiments with (2) .
