Mechanistic information about thermally supported photoreactions can be obtained by comparing the temperature dependence of fluorescence and quantum yield. These principles were demonstrated for the reaction (1) → (2) , which proceeds via an intermediate—presumably (3) —when conducted at not too low a temperature.
