Selective electrophilic reactions at the α‐ or β‐position of β‐(1‐pyrrolidinyl)acrylonitrile (1) , NR 2 = pyrrolidinyl, can be accomplished in many cases by lithiation of (1) at −113 or −76°C and subsequent reaction with the electrophile.
