The three isomeric forms of N 2 H 2 have now been detected and characterized. Na, K, and aged Cs tosylhydrazide afford diazene; fresh Cs tosylhydrazide gives isodiazene. According to its IR spectrum diazene contains varying proportions of the cis and trans forms, depending upon the conditions.
