Formation of dimethylacetylene from two CCH 3 moieties is found to take place on reaction of the methylcarbyne complex X(CO) 4 WCCH 3 (XCl, Br) with the donor ligand methylenebis(diphenylarsane). The dinuclear complex (1) is obtained. Phenylcarbyne complexes react differently.
