Arabinoadenosine 3′‐phosphate (2) can be obtained from (1) by ring opening with phosphoric acid in HMPT. Compound (2) could serve as an “arabino” building block for oligonucleotide syntheses; the phosphate‐free nucleoside inhibits some enzymes, viruses, and animal tumors.
