Simple corrins such as vitamin B 12 and vitamin B 12 coenzyme catalyze a variety of unusual enzymatic reactions of which some are still without analogy in organic or organometallic chemistry. The mechanisms of these reactions are currently the subject of lively discussion. The present review focuses attention on new ideas about the mode of action of vitamin B 12 coenzymes in enzymatic reactions.
