Withdrawal of charge from a central metal is accomplished better by η 2 ‐bonded CS 2 than by CO. This follows from the IR and 1 H‐NMR spectra of complexes of type (1) (L = CO or PMe 3 ), (2) , and (3) (ar = hexamethylbenzene or mesitylene).
