The way in which dissolved transition metal compounds affect the liquid‐phase oxidation of hydrocarbons is demonstrated for compounds of cobalt, copper, and manganese. Kinetic investigations on model systems and comparisons with the non‐catalyzed reaction show that the catalysts participate in all the oxidation steps.
