The present paper deals with new cotton dyes, approaching the subject from two directions. In the first section the synthesis of a new type of reactive dye from products of Peppeacetylene chemistry is reported. The second part describes a dyeing process which does not stat with reactive dyes. Instead, the homopolar bonding between dye and cotton is formed by linking the dye to the substrate via polyfunctional bridges. These two programs have led to the development of the ®Primazin P and ®Basazol dyes.
