Dediccitrd to Professor H. Bredereck on the occcisioti of his 60th birtli&v 2-Chloro-2-ethoxyethanesulfinyl chloride has been described [ I ] as the unstable product of the addition of thionyl chloride onto ethyl vinyl ether. The reaction of thionyl chloride and alkyl vinyl ethers (I) in a molar ratio of 1 : 3 has now yielded bis-(3-chloro-F-alkoxyethyl) sulfoxides (2).
