Die Neubetrachtung der Biosynthese von Incargranin B, dem ursprünglich eine ungewöhnliche Indolo[1.7]naphthyridin‐Struktur zugewiesen worden war, führte zum Vorschlag eines Dipyrrolochinolingerüsts als biosynthetisch realistischere Struktur (siehe Schema; Piv=Pivaloyl). Diese Hypothese wurde durch eine kurze biomimetische Synthese von Incargranin B bestätigt.
