Keine losen Enden : Die erste Totalsynthese von N ‐Decarbomethoxychanofruticosinat (siehe Strukturformel) nutzt eine SmI 2 ‐vermittelte intramolekulare Reformatsky‐Reaktion zum Aufbau des Siebenrings. Eine intramolekulare oxidative Kupplung erzeugt das gespannte Ringsystem der Käfigstruktur.
