Paarbildung : Carbene mit Carbonylgruppen aktivieren weißen Phosphor sehr effektiv und liefern so carbenstabilisierte P 4 ‐ und P 8 ‐Cluster. Mechanistische Belege sprechen dafür, dass der P 8 ‐Cluster (siehe Röntgenbeugungsstruktur: C grau, P gelb, N blau, O rot) das Ergebnis der [2+2]‐Cycloaddition einer intermediären Diphosphenspezies ist.
