Au/Ag‐Nanopartikellegierungen zeigen bei Anregung mit einem Nahinfrarot‐Femtosekundenlaser (1290 nm) eine helle Drei‐Photonen‐Lumineszenz (linkes Bild) mit einer um eine Größenordnung höheren Intensität als reine Au‐ oder Ag‐Nanopartikel. Weil die Anregung außerhalb des Plasmonenresonanzbereichs liegt, gelingt die biologische Bildgebung (rechts) ohne photothermische Schäden.
