Wüst, aber nicht leer : Cosmid‐Klone mit Typ‐II‐Polyketidsynthase‐Genen aus Umwelt‐DNA (aus Wüstenboden) wurden auf die Produktion klonspezifischer Metabolite in Streptomyces hin untersucht. Ein rekombinanter Streptomyces stellte das Polyketid Erdacin ( 1 ) mit einer bislang unbekannten pentacyclischen Struktur her.
