Lieber P als C : Carboranderivate addieren die Elektrophile H + , CH 3 + und [R 3 Si] + bevorzugt an das P‐Atom von Phosphabenzolen (siehe Bild) und nicht an die C‐Atome. Mit Triflatreagentien gelingen diese Transformationen dagegen nicht.
