Wählerisch : Die hexagonalen {001}‐ oder {00 $\bar 1$ }‐Flächen von L ‐Cystin‐Einkristallen werden selektiv mit Goldnanopartikeln belegt, wenn die Kristalle in eine Lösung der Nanopartikel getaucht werden (siehe Bild). Ursache für die Selektivität ist eine anisotrope molekulare Packung von L ‐Cystin im Einkristall.
