Die Photoheterolyse von Arylhalogeniden mit elektronenschiebenden Substituenten (EDGs) oder von Arylestern in 2,2,2‐Trifluorethanol (TFE) liefert Phenylkationen, die an Alkine addieren können (siehe Schema, Tf=Trifluormethansulfonyl). Diese Reaktion bietet eine metallfreie Alternative zur (Sila)‐Sonogashira‐Reaktion.
