Die Komplexierung einer Kronenverbindung mithilfe sekundärer hypervalenter I⋅⋅⋅O‐Wechselwirkungen führt zur Stabilisierung eines Aqua(hydroxy)(phenyl)iodonium‐Ions. Der resultierende Aquakomplex 1 ist im Festkörper und in Lösung stabil und dient als nützliches Oxidans, vor allem in Wasser. OTf − =Trifluormethansulfonat.
