Leicht zugängliche Tris(alkyl)‐Komplexe von Seltenerdmetallen, [Ln(CH 2 SiMe 3 ) 3 (thf) 2 ], katalysieren nach Aktivierung mit [NMe 2 HPh][B(C 6 F 5 ) 4 ] in Gegenwart von Al i Bu 3 die homogene Ethylenpolymerisation. Modellreaktionen zufolge wird das Bis(alkyl)yttrium‐Monokation in das Mono(alkyl)‐Dikation umgewandelt (siehe Strukturbild), das offenbar die aktive Spezies in der Polymerisation ist.
