Measurements have been carried out to study the attenuation of neutron from a horizontal channel of the ET‐RR‐1 reactor. The assessments of neutron distribution inside three different types of locally prepared concretes have been evaluated. Neutron intensities in ilmenite‐limonite concrete shield show an exponential decrease with increasing concrete thickness. Ilmenite concrete is a good attenuator for thermal and intermediate neutrons. However, ordinary and ilmenite‐limonite concretes show efficient shielding for fast neutrons.
