Abstract Oscillator strengths for the 2s 2 n s( 2 S) −2s 2 m p( 2 P), ( n = 3–6, m = 2–6) and 2s 2 n p(2P) −2s 2 m d( 2 D), ( n = 4–6, m = 3–5) transitions in B I sequence are calculated in LS‐coupling scheme. The Coulomb approximation is used in calculating the radial part of the wave functions, while the angular part is determined using the Racah technique. Lifetimes of the n s( 2 S) and n p( 2 P), ( n = 3–6) excited states are evaluated and compared with previous results from beamfoil experiments.
