The validity of Fresnel's formulas for the reflection and transmission factor is theoretically studied under the conditions of highly time‐dependent optical parameters. Caused by the non‐stationary behavior of the medium deviations from the traditional expressions occur. Analytical and numerical results are presented for fast carrier dynamics in a photoexcited semiconductor.
