The impact parameter dependence of the 3 d σ ionization has been measured for CuAu and NbAu collisions. The impact parameter and energy dependence of the K‐L vacancy sharing is discussed in terms of the DEMKOV‐MEYERHOF and NIKITIN models. The total cross sections for producing 3 d σ vacancies in all the four collision systems are considered.
