Status of the η′ (957) Meson

According to the quark model, a singlet with I G J P = 0 + 0 − is predicted to exist. Experimentally observed, the η′(957) and the E (1420) mesons both have the same properties. However, the J P the η′ meson may be 0 − or 2 − . Recent experimental results along with some theoretical discussions on the production and the decay of the η′ meson are presented here. Its main decay modes are ππη, π + π − γ (via ϱ° γ) und γγ.
