In T REDER 's theory of gravitation the active gravitational (S CHWARZSCHILD ) mass is, generally speaking, different from the inertial (rest) mass of a stationary space‐bounded field producing system. We consider a certain class of field equations and show that the relative deviation of the inertial (rest) mass from the S CHWARZSCHILD ian mass is very small (≤1/15).
