The production rate of nuclear interactions by neutral N ‐component of cosmic‐rays of mean energy 15 GeV at sea level was studied as function of absorber thickness by means of a cloud chamber operated by coincidence and anticoincidence technique. The value of collision free path of non‐ionizing N ‐rays in lead was found to be 232 ± 29 g/cm 2 and the collision cross‐section 1.50 ± 0.19 bn. The estimated nucleon inelasticity for pion production in these interactions was 0.4.
