The HAMILTONian of a model for an atom interacting with radiation is diagonalized by neglecting the energy operator of the atom whereas the interaction is completely taken into account. The eigenstates correspond to the states which are generated by a classical current. For the two level atom interacting with one mode of the radiation only, the complete HAMILTONian is reduced to two operators containing only variables of the photon field.
