Dirac's equation for the scattering of high energy electrons by a modified coulomb potential is solved approximately after converting it into a second order equation and a close expression for the scattering amplitude is obtained. The expression can be used to obtain information about the charge‐distribution in the nuclei by analysing the experimental data on electron scattering. To test the usefulness of the approach some preliminary calculations were done on Au and C nuclei, and the results are found to be satisfactory.
