Inflammatory facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy and coats syndrome

We report a case of facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy and Coats syndrome. This association has been reported only once before. Three muscle biopsies from our patient over 13 years showed changes of a slow inflammatory myopathy. Corticosteroid treatment did not improve his clinical status. We postulate that our case may be a variant of facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy.
