Locked‐in syndrome in multiple sclerosis with sparing of the ventral portion of the pons

“Locked‐in” syndrome was observed in a 42‐year‐old woman with multiple sclerosis. Autopsy revealed extensive demyelination in both cerebral peduncles, the periaqueductal region, and the internal capsule, but the ventral portion of the pons was spared.
