Altered muscle polyamine levels in human neuromuscular diseases

Intracellular polyamine levels were measured in 17 patients with neuromuscular diseases and 13 normal controls and were correlated with morphological changes in muscle biopsies. Elevated polyamine levels were found in muscles with marked morphological changes, regardless of the nature of the disease process.
