Abstract Two patients with sphenoethmoid mucoceles developed visual field defects consistent with optic chiasm dysfunction. The presence of chiasmal field defects associated with the clinical syndrome of compressive optic neuropaty should not rule out the diagnosis of sphenoethmoid mucocele since definitive treatment can be carried out via transnasal drainage.
