At the trot‐gallop transition, a rhesus monkey's stride rate was approximately half and its stride length double predicted values based on equations presented by Heglund et al. (1974). However, the monkey's trot‐gallop transition speed was consistent with Heglund et al.'s (1974) prediction. The unusual primate footfall pattern may explain the discrepancy in stride rate and length.
