In most cases (80.6%), coefficients of variation of body height fall in a narrow range, between 3 and 3.9. Averages calculated for regional, racial and national groups or for successive periods may differ significantly, nevertheless they do not exceed these limits. There is no relationship with environmental, economic and social conditions and the most probable hypothesis is that body height relative variation is stable characteristic of Homo sapiens, dependent on some genotypic traits common to all populations.
