Quinoline and naphthyridine fluorophores bearing an iminophosphorane (IPP) moiety were prepared and their physical properties were explored. They emitted strongly compared to the precursors without IPP groups in both the solution and solid states. The local excitation characteristic of their excited states was revealed based on experimental and computational studies of IPP derivatives. Moreover, emissive thin films could be prepared owing to their low crystallinity. More information can be found in the Full Paper by Tomohiro Umeno, Kazuteru Usui, and Satoru Karasawa.
