Pd‐catalyzed decarboxylative ortho‐aroylation of 2‐aryl‐quinazolinones with α‐oxocarboxylic acids for the synthesis of diaryl ketones has been developed. Biologically interested novel quinazolinones with diaryl ketone functionality has been obtained with moderate to excellent yield from easily accessible 2‐aryl‐quinazolinones having inherent directing group.
