A single step synthetic strategy for (±)10‐ desbromoarborescidine A is described. Starting from tryptamine and pentane‐1,5‐diol, this acceptorless dehydrogenative condensation process is efficiently catalyzed by a ruthenium complex featuring proton‐responsive phosphine‐pyridone ligand.
