A facile synthesis of chiral cis β‐hydroxy ketones was successfully developed through ruthenium‐catalyzed transfer hydrogenative desymmetrization of 1,3‐cyclopentanedione. The experiment on gram scale could be performed without loss of reactivity and enantioselectivity.
