Abstract As a green yet challenging field, photoenzymatic catalysis has sprung up in the past few years but mainly in the context of photocatalytic in situ regeneration of cofactors to facilitate enzymes’ native functions. In addition to this, some unprecedented chemical transformations have recently been achieved via novel pathways wherein many important products are obtained in satisfactory yields, sometimes even with excellent enantioselectivity. In this review, we highlight the latest advances of photoenzymatic approaches in organic synthesis, however, photocatalytic in situ regeneration of cofactors for enzymes is not included.
