We describe a decarboxylative CP coupling of o ‐nitrobenzoic acids with H‐phosphonates by using a bimetallic palladium/silver catalytic system. Many common functional groups on the phenyl ring of o ‐nitrobenzoic acids, such as MeO, NO 2 , F, Cl, and Br, are well tolerated under these conditions. Nevertheless, m ‐ or p ‐substituted benzoic acids are inert for the reaction. This transformation provides an approach to biologically and synthetically important aryl phosphonates.
