Highlights Understanding men's experiences related to IPV perpetration has promise to improve IPV intervention. Combining prevailing theories provides a promising framework for ecological IPV research. Female‐to‐male partner violence puts women at significantly greater risk for IPV victimization. Neighborhoods of higher concentrated disadvantage enhance women's risk of IPV victimization.
