Abstract The concept of membrane distributed feed to a packed‐bed reactor is applied to multiphase catalytic reaction systems. The expected benefits of this approach include enhanced reactant conversion. The concept may be applied to a wide variety of reactions conducted over trickle‐beds and is supported experimentally for the reaction of glucose hydrogenation to sorbitol.
