Liquid holdup and heat transfer coefficient in liquid‐solid and three‐phase fluidized beds

Liquid holdups and wall‐to‐bed heat transfer coefficients in three‐phase fluidized beds with glass beads and cylindrical γ‐alumina particles were determined experimentally. It was found that the product of heat transfer coefficient and liquid holdup in three‐phase fludized beds is equal to that in corresponding liquid‐solid fluidized beds. A generalized correlation equation for heat transfer coefficients in both liquid‐solid and three‐phase fluidized beds was proposed based on the above relationship.
