This paper applies the principles of geometric programming to the optimization of the well‐known Williams‐Otto process. Following the trend of the articles published on this subject, two different objective functions are considered and the results are compared to those of other investigators. The dual geometric program is used to provide an answer to the question of why the optimal value of the objective function remains unchanged for perturbations in a certain variable.
