Molar volumes were measured and partial molar volumes were calculated in the supercritical region, including the vicinity of the critical locus, lor compositions of 1.8 to 20 mole % n‐heptane. Molar volumes can he represented, to a reasonable approximation, by the Flory‐OrwollVrij (FOV) reduced equation of state. A better fit of the data is possible if the three exponents in the FOV equation are adjusted The irodified FOV equation or the Redlich‐Kwong equation, with parameters idjusted to fit the critical locus, can in general represent the partial molar rolumcs adequately along the critical locus only. The prediction of the imposition‐dependence of the partial molar volumes is only qualitatively successful at best.
