A study was made of the laminar flow of monatomic gases. It was found that the Graetz type of correlation holds sufficientiy well for prediction of heat transfer coefficients for the gases. Equations are given for a complete analysis of the various sources of error, an approximate and rapid means of estimating the friction factor, and an approximate but rapid means of estimating the heat transfer coefficient. It appears that the temperature estimation is by far the major source of error, because of insufficiently accurate voltage and current measurements and questions concerning the heat loss term.
